This is one of the series of New York City photographs from the Photo-Pictorialists Augustus J. Thibaudeau. The Custom House New York City . Thibaudeau was one of the group of pictorialist from Buffalo , NY. that help set the trend in art photography of the time. Good friends with Alfred Stieglitz , Clarence H. White, Gertrude Kasebier, Alvin Coburn ,and Edward Steichen. His work has been almost forgotten but you can see most of his work here from time to time.

A 6th. plate Daguerreotype from our collection of antique photography. This little girl is holding an apple tinted red on the apple and her cheeks . c.1840s.
This is a one of a kind image made with a silver plate. Daguerreotype photography was used from 1839 to about 1865 . Now it is making a come back in the art field with modern artist . We will be showing some of the modern work on our web site soon.
